Another BOTOX®-like option
While BOTOX Cosmetic has become a household name, there are other wrinkle smoothing injectables in this category that work the same way. In addition to BOTOX and Dysport®, we offer XEOMIN at our San Francisco Bay Area practice to round out our menu of neuromodulators. We specialize in the skilled application of these products for facial rejuvenation and contouring. We also have the training and experience to know which of these similar—yet slightly different—products is best suited to your needs.

What Is XEOMIN?
XEOMIN is a neuromodulator in the same category as BOTOX and Dysport. All three are made from the same protein, botulinum toxin type A, and can be used to treat the same concerns. While the formulations are extremely similar, each claims to have its own unique characteristics. At Mabrie Facial Institute, we have plenty of experience with all three of these neuromodulators, and we will discuss their properties with you when developing your treatment plan.
How Does XEOMIN Work?
XEOMIN works in the same way as other neuromodulators. These injectable neurotoxins relax facial muscles by blocking the nerve impulses that are responsible for activating them. This pauses the movements that cause wrinkles on the upper face—frowning, squinting, etc.—without limiting your range of expressions. It can also help shrink overdeveloped jaw muscles and glands that cause lower face fullness.
What Does XEOMIN Treat?
XEOMIN is FDA-approved to treat glabellar lines—the vertical lines between the eyebrows. It is also commonly used to treat crow’s feet, horizontal forehead furrows, and bunny lines at the top of the nose near the inner corner of the eyes. For some individuals, XEOMIN can be used to create a subtle brow lift—a delicate procedure best left to experts such as the skilled Injectors at Mabrie Facial Institute.
We also use neuromodulators for our popular facial slimming procedure, which reduces enlarged masseter (jaw) muscles and parotid glands for a more “V-shaped” face.
I'm a Top 25 Most Loved Injector
Out of 2,000 nominees in the U.S., Dr. Mabrie was voted one of the Top 25 Most Loved Injectors by the RealSelf community. Thanks to all our amazing patients for making him the only injector in the Bay Area to receive this honor.
Your XEOMIN Procedure
Whether you’re getting XEOMIN as part of a forehead and brow procedure or to treat a single area, we start your appointment with a thorough evaluation of your makeup-free face and a discussion of your goals and concerns. We document your treatment baseline with a series of clinical photos, then carefully mark the treatment area(s) to pinpoint the targeted muscles. Our highly trained associates will make sure you are comfortable and relaxed for the duration of your procedure. Most patients are pleasantly surprised at how simple and painless these treatments are.
You can reapply makeup in about an hour, and after that, you can return to your normal daily activities. It is not uncommon to have redness, minor swelling, or itching at the injection sites, but this should go away within 24 to 48 hours. XEOMIN results start to appear within 5 to 7 days, with full results usually apparent 10 days after treatment. Like other neuromodulators, XEOMIN results typically last 3 to 4 months, and can be prolonged with regularly scheduled treatments.

XEOMIN FAQs
How much does XEOMIN cost?
At Mabrie Facial Institute, neuromodulator treatments start at $360, and vary depending on the number of areas treated and the amount of product needed. Prices are subject to change, so please call or check our Procedure Pricing page for current pricing.
What are the differences between BOTOX, Dysport, and XEOMIN?
While all 3 of these neuromodulators are made from the same substance and work in the same way, XEOMIN claims to be more “pure.” It is made through a special manufacturing process that removes any inactive or unnecessary additives. Studies have not been performed to determine whether this has a long-term effect on safety or efficacy, and we have not encountered any instances of allergic reactions to either BOTOX or Dysport.
What are the differences between XEOMIN and dermal fillers?
Both neuromodulators and dermal fillers can be used to correct lines and wrinkles, but they work differently and on different types of wrinkles. Dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®, are designed to restore volume and hydration to smooth wrinkles, creases, folds, and recessed areas from underneath the skin. XEOMIN and other neuromodulators correct a specific type of wrinkles called “dynamic wrinkles,” which are caused by repeated muscle movement. They relax the associated facial muscles and allow the skin to gradually smooth out.
