ABOUT OUR PATIENT
When most people think of plastic surgery for the mouth area, images of big, fake, overstuffed lips come to mind. They're not aware that authentic non-surgical lip augmentation procedures can have delicate and refined effects on a person's face. They don't know that they're able to easily manage and control these results as well, and that unnaturally swollen lips don't just happen by accident.

Our patient for this case is a woman from Walnut Creek in her early 40's. She considered having treatment done for several months. She was looking for a way to restore the kind of volume to her lips that she had when she was younger. Her upper lip was never the same after she wore braces. After doing research about non-surgical lip augmentation, she thought she had found a solution, but she was concerned that her lips would look overdone if she tried it out.

This patient has actually been coming to us for facial rejuvenation and under-eye treatment. After she spent time getting to know us, she started discussing solutions for her lips with me. Upon closer inspection, I suggested that we use one application of Juvederm Ultra, one of the most reliable and versatile fillers I use, to give her upper lip some of its groove back

THE OUTCOME
In her before picture, you can tell her upper lip was very small, especially on profile view. Her lower lip was also losing significant amount of volume. Generally speaking, the ideal upper to lower lip ratio is 40-60. I used the Juvederm injection to restore this balance and even out the irregularity that was bothering her. After her treatment, we were both satisfied with the results that the Juvederm injection provided.
