Before Your San Francisco Nose Surgery Consultation

Before you visit with Dr. Mabrie, you may want to do your own evaluation. Here are a few ways to get an idea of the areas of your nose you would like to improve.

Evaluate Your Nose

To start, divide the view of your nose into 3 major anatomic areas (upper, middle and lower – see illustrations). Keeping these 3 areas in mind, carefully look at your nose from different angles as depicted: front, profile , oblique view , from above and from below. This allows you to consider the areas you would like to address.

Look at Your Nose from All Sides

You may favor a particular view of your nose. For instance, you like the way you look on a frontal view, but dislike your profile or vice-versa. Most often our "nose job" patients in San Francisco identify their likes and dislikes from a recent photograph. By evaluating all views, you can focus on the areas that you want to improve. Here are some common areas of concern:

  • A Bulbous Tip: The tip of the nose is large and undefined. It may appear rounded and out of proportion with the rest of the nose.
  • A Hump: Bumps on the nose can be smoothed down to achieve a graceful transition from one area to the next.
  • A Droopy Tip: The tip can be reshaped and brought back in line with the rest of the facial features.
  • A Low Bridge: The bridge can be augmented to create flow from the forehead down to the tip.
