How much time would I need to take off work?
We recommend taking at least 4 days off to recover from the anesthesia and to decrease the risk of bleeding after surgery. Bruising varies from person to person. But generally, it may last about 7-10 days.
Will the fat come back?
No. Fat is deposited into fat cells throughout the body. Facial liposuction removes the fat cells from your face and neck. Once the fat cells are removed, fat will no longer be stored in your face. If you gain weight and change your overall body habits afterwards, fat cells in other areas of your body may increase in size. Because fat will no longer be stored around your face, additional liposuction will not needed.
Is there pain in recovery from facial liposuction?
Unlike body liposuction, facial liposuction causes very little pain. Most of our patients only require over the counter pain relievers to alleviate discomfort during postoperative recovery.
How will I look afterwards?
Dr. Mabrie uses computer imaging to help you visualize possible results during your initial surgical consultation. Using modern technology and software, Dr. Mabrie is able to graphically construct a profile of your post-operative appearance.
Where are the incisions for facial liposuction?
An incision is made under the chin, usually in a pre-existing, natural crease. This area heals very well and is usually imperceptible after a few months.
What are the risks involved with facial liposuction?
Facial liposuction is a very straightforward procedure with very low risks. Although rare, risks may include widened scars, bleeding, or infection.
Is facial liposuction done in a hospital?
Yes. Dr. Mabrie performs most of his procedures in the operating room at a hospital facility. This offers patients the advantage of having a board certified anesthesiologist present, thus making the procedure as safe and comfortable as possible. Dr. Mabrie operates in several Bay Area hospital facilities including: Doctor's Medical Center and Canyon Surgery Center both in Pinole, and California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
