Frontal View: Because the bridge lacks dimension, more attention is brought to the tip which looks broad. |
After augmenting the bridge with dermafillers, the bridge has more depth and dimension and the nose in general has more character and better proportions. The nostril flare reduction also helps. |

Background: This Filipina woman in her 20’s consulted with Dr. Mabrie in his San Francisco office, interested in a Rhinoplasty. She had been asked to do some modeling and noticed that on certain angles her nose was less defined than she would like. Her husband, who felt she was beautiful as was, supported her wish to obtain a consultation but urged her not to get “that operated Asian nose” look. Because of Dr. Mabrie’s unique specialty in Ethnic Rhinoplasty for San Francisco patients, we were able to put his worries to rest. Her goals were to: 1. Make nose cuter in general 2. Augment her bridge 3. Narrow the width of her nostrils Dr. Mabrie’s Assessment: “She has a very attractive face and an already attractive nose. She fortunately already had great definition as well. Her dorsum, nasal bridge, was a little flat and her nostrils had a moderate amount of flare. Augmenting the dorsum is a frequent request as this can be underdeveloped in many Asian and African American patients. Another common request is to narrow the nostrils. These changes can be accomplished through surgical augmentation with the use of a facial implant, or by using non-surgical Dermafillers which are less invasive and provide a quick recovery time. A surgical nasal flare reduction can also be performed in-office in about 30 minutes.” Procedures: In-office limited rhinoplasty for nostril flare, and a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty injecting Restylane to build her dorsum 5-Day Follow Up: She is seen 5 days later and because of the limited nature of her nose surgery in San Francisco, she can already appreciate her great result. Although the tip was not directly changed, augmenting the dorsum gives the appearance of a more elevated tip. You may also get Dr. Mabrie's opinion about your face by sending your photos via our Virtual Consultation and he will review them and respond personally.
