| Asian woman with severe brow ptosis, decreasing visual fields | Browlift surgery to open field of vision and improve appearance |
Background: This woman was brought in by her daughter because she was having increasing difficulty seeing. Her vision was good but her field of vision was being obstructed by loose skin hanging from her eyelids. Her primary care physician referred her to Dr. Mabrie for surgical options to improve her vision with possible blepharoplasty or browlift.
Dr. Mabrie's Assessment: This is an advanced case of dermatochalasis (Excess upper lid skin), coupled with brow ptosis. (Sagging eyebrows) In a case this dramatic, we requested a consultation with an ophthalmologist to test her visual fields, and were able to have the procedure covered by her insurance. Because of her age and the laxity of the skin, a browlift would be necessary in addition to upper lid blepharoplasty. We decided on a lateral browlift which uses a small incision hidden in the temple areas of the hairline because she had skin which would hide these incisions very well.
Procedure: Upper Lid Blepharoplasty and Lateral Browlift
4 Month Follow-Up: Both patient and surgeon were please with the before and after results. Her eyes are more open. In addition to seeing better she has rejuvenated appearance.
